Endogenous Thiol Tripeptide
Glutathione (GSH) is a cysteine-containing tripeptide and the dominant intracellular thiol antioxidant. Note the γ-carboxyl linkage between glutamate and cysteine, which distinguishes it from an ordinary tripeptide. Supplied reduced; it oxidises readily to the GSSG dimer in solution and in air.
